A Digital Product Launch Checklist for Creators

Selling a downloadable design, plugin or app takes more than uploading an image and setting a price. Your buyer needs a clear promise and a reliable way to receive what they paid for.

1. Verify the files

Open the final archive and test its contents. Remove passwords, private keys, personal information and development artifacts. Include a version number, clear directory structure and readable installation instructions.

2. Document compatibility

List the platforms, software versions and optional dependencies you have actually tested. Avoid broad claims that a product works everywhere.

3. Define usage rights

Make the license understandable: number of websites or projects, permitted commercial use, redistribution restrictions, updates and support. Different products may require different rights.

4. Show honest previews

Use screenshots that reflect the real product. Label concept visuals or sample data appropriately, and do not advertise features that are unfinished.

5. Test digital delivery

Verify that customers receive the correct file or access instructions after successful checkout. Test the experience on mobile as well as desktop, including email delivery and common failure cases.

6. Publish support expectations and policies

Explain who to contact, what assistance includes and how refunds are considered. Consumer rights depend on location and product type; EU digital-content rules may require additional attention.

7. Walk through the entire buyer journey

Test product discovery, pricing, legal links, payment, access and installation. Fix broken links and misleading states before publishing.
